Booking a maid or cook should be as easy as ordering food — and working as one shouldn’t require reading English menus. Onion solved both sides: a polished customer experience, and a vendor app designed for real service workers.

The customer side needed flexible booking — a day, a month, or a one-off event — with verified, background-checked providers and every payment method Indian households actually use. The harder problem was the vendor side: many service providers aren't comfortable with text-heavy apps, so job alerts, acceptance and daily workflows had to work with minimal reading.
Phase one shipped the customer platform: service discovery for cleaning and cooking, date-range scheduling with provider selection (ratings, experience and vaccination badges visible), and checkout across UPI, cards, Paytm, COD and a wallet with discounts. Phase two delivered the vendor app with a voice-first design — spoken job announcements with distance, yes/no acceptance, press-to-speak interactions, OTP-verified job completion and a simple earnings dashboard. Attendance calendars with late/absent marking keep month-long bookings honest on both sides.
